Aching for some new land exploration, thus decided to participate in this trip. Destination, Schärftlarn, about 26 kilometres south of Munich. Plan was to cycle along the river and we would be there in 1 hour or so. Well, all thing went well till my speedometer registered 70km/h. Battery was running out and thus it was cranky. Throughout the initial part of the trip, i kept fiddling with the speedo, digging the battery and putting it back. Today the "official photographer" wasn't around, so i offered my service. It wasn't the most convenient thing to bring the cam in and out my bag, thus was always the last to start moving off after the break, while promising to catch up. Well i didn't. We took a short pause at the crest of the hill after an uphill struggle (for the others of course) so after the pause, it was a long way down.. Took a little longer to pack my cam as it was so pretty, thinking that i would catch up as always. Then the unthinkable happened when i fiddled with the speedo again. The bottom catch that holds the battery in place fell off while i was speeding down the slope. It was only 100 m later that i realised that the thing had fell off, and i had to choose between catching up with the already gone group or turn back to hunt for the catch. Picked the latter of course. But that also meant that i will be stranded in the outskirts of Munich. Took me a little more than 5 mins to finally spot the circular catch hiding among the grass lining the road. Wooo! Having no means of contact, i didn't bring my phone along, and i don;t have their numbers in the first case. Thus knowing only the name of the town that they are heading to, i could only pray that there are not too many beer gardens. Missed the turn to the town, continued for 5 minutes before realising that there was no way they could have been that fast. ( i was really speeding, think i broke the speed limit for cars at certain stretches..) so stopped and asked. Was redirected back. Then there was the road down to the town of Schärflarn. I can only tell you it was the highlight of the trip. Like the Motor GP but going down a slope..I had to brake so as not to hit the back of the car infront of me. 2 kilometers later, i spotted a group of cyclists stopping at a crossroad. Apparently they have realised that i was missing and stopped for me. Imagine my relieve....Thats when i found out that there was another guy missing. Well, he never made it back to the group....
